Oscar winner charged after fatal crash



Roger Avary, the Oscar-winning co-writer of 'Pulp Fiction', has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence after a fatal railcar ram northwest of Los Angeles.
Reuters reports that the dash occurred in the metropolis of Ojai, 80 miles (130 km) northwest of Los Angeles, at about 1am on Sun.
Thirty-four-year-old Andreas Zedini, a passenger in Avary's railcar, died of his injuries at a local anesthetic hospital, Captain Monica McGrath of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said.
Avary's 40-year-old wife, Gretchen, was taken to infirmary with serious injuries.
Captain McGrath said Avary was released from pokey afterward notice $50,000 bail.
